  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Walkthrough – Mission 21: The War Economy

This mission can be quite frustrating due to the vast open spaces that complicate infiltration. Having Quiet as a companion can be very beneficial. As you get closer to the base, a jeep carrying a courier will start patrolling the area. Ambush the driver and interrogate him to discover the inspection route. Now, make your way to the base through a small gate in the fence, ensuring that the security cameras do not detect you. Search for the plane on the runway along the marked route and take cover underneath it. Use the shadow of the plane to shield yourself from the snipers stationed on the roof of the main building. Investigate the storage area near the patrolling walkers and meticulously scan each soldier. You'll locate your target within this area along the patrol route. Eliminate or capture him, then make your escape using a captured walker, or sneak away if you haven't triggered any alarms. Your mission may be interrupted by an urgent request to return to Mother Base. If this happens, head back right away and complete this mission at a later time.

  • Super Mario Odyssey – Switch Review

Nintendo's reputation for crafting brilliantly creative open-world and sandbox playgrounds, with Mario as the star, has always been extraordinary. With each new entry in the series, immense expectations loom. So, how does one outdo oneself? If you're Nintendo, you create a tribute to everything that came before, and that's precisely what they've done with Super Mario Odyssey. It could very well be the pinnacle of the series, a true successor to Galaxy. After a considerable hiatus, Mario returns to his sandbox, and Odyssey captures what made Super Mario 64 such a gem: a genuine affection for every Kingdom. In contrast to the entertaining yet isolated levels in 3D World and various 2D offerings, the return to a sprawling playground proves masterful. It lets each world's personality shine, much like the memorable landscapes from 1997. Allowing players the freedom to explore entire worlds to uncover dozens of Power Moons (with over 70 in each Kingdom), Odyssey transforms terrain exploration into pure joy. These worlds are simply breathtaking, each brimming with its own unique personality. With a multitude of sights and activities, Odyssey's strength lies in teaching players how to enjoy it all, made even more satisfying by Mario's superb control. As you might have guessed by now, Mario teams up with Cappy, who becomes his hat and unlocks various new abilities. These abilities form the foundation for attacks, jumps, and even taking control of iconic characters within the game. Once again, in addition to Mario's new skills, each world offers a plethora of activities. Nintendo's creativity shines here, with numerous fun ways to discover and unlock Power Moons. Unlike Super Mario 64, Galaxy, and Sunshine, there are no hints. You're left to explore the world on your own. Odyssey encourages experimentation and generously rewards your curiosity. In terms of experimentation, Mario can now don a variety of outfits, some essential for obtaining certain Power Moons, while others simply provide enjoyment. The "Crazy Cap" store accepts two currencies: gold coins and purple coins. Purple coins can be collected in every kingdom but spent only in the location where they were found, while gold coins are collected and usable anywhere. In an age dominated by microtransactions, it's refreshing to see Nintendo completely eschew them, making this system a source of pure enjoyment for players. This system offers no tangible rewards apart from seeing Mario's different looks, but the joy of collecting coins in every kingdom makes it incredibly worthwhile. Much like the best Mario games, the real fun begins after the credits roll. The game unlocks much more content. In addition to returning to collect the Power Moons you may have missed, there are countless new discoveries to be made. Nintendo has left no stone unturned in this game. The only drawback is that some of Mario's moves are locked for those not using motion controls. If you're using the Pro Controller or playing the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, you won't have access to some of Cappy's abilities. This limitation is puzzling, considering that the console's unique selling point is its adaptability. Super Mario Odyssey manages to exceed colossal expectations, offering the most gratifying gameplay experience in any Mario game to date. While some may debate whether it matches Galaxy, for me, it does, thanks to its brilliant reinvention of the sandbox formula and expert utilization of various tools. You'll become obsessed with collecting outfits and Power Moons and fall in love with every kingdom you visit. Final Score:

  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Walkthrough – Mission 20: Voices

When the mission begins, Snake will be deployed outside of Munoko Ya Nioka. Although Ocelot mentions that passing through this area is the "only way" to reach the mission objective, there is actually an alternate route available! Unless you need to collect items or neutralize soldiers for Mother Base, it's best to avoid sneaking through Munoko Ya Nioka. Instead, take the valley situated between guard post #16 and guard post #20. This shortcut will prove to be very helpful in reaching the Ngumba Industrial Zone more quickly. Upon reaching guard post #20, remain prone and crawl past the guard post (or move to the side while riding on D-Horse). Continue toward Ngumba, where you will find a solitary CFA tent guarded by two soldiers and a locked fence. You can either neutralize the guards and unlock the fence or quietly ascend the hill on the right side to bypass the locked gate from above. From this vantage point, Snake can choose to head towards the mist-covered area near guard post #17 or take the shortcut next to the destroyed bridge. Since guard post #17 has an overwhelming number of enemies, it’s advisable to opt for the shortcut at the ruined bridge. On the other side, you will find ledges that Snake can climb to gain elevation. Use these ledges to reach the top, then navigate the hill on the right to get closer to the Ngumba Industrial Zone tunnel. Sneak past the CFA tent by crawling beneath the tree root, then head into the tunnel leading to Ngumba and the Devil's House. The area outside the Devil's House is strangely quiet and devoid of enemies, so make your way into the building at the far end. Once you enter the lab, continue until you reach a curtain that you can pull aside. Open the curtain and move into the next room to trigger a boss battle! When the Man on Fire appears, quickly exit the building for safety. Avoid using the tunnel to escape, as the Fire Man will destroy it and seal off the area, which will negatively impact your mission ranking. The Man on Fire is immune to conventional firearms and explosives, as well as melee attacks, and he can kill you instantly if he grabs you. If he gets too close, dive away to avoid him. Be cautious when he winds up, as a fireball will follow. Try to conserve your ammo and focus on incapacitating him instead. Keep in mind that calling in the chopper without neutralizing the Man on Fire will likely result in him shooting it down. You can stun the Man on Fire by using water from the water towers and the water tanks in the warehouse. Detonating C4 at the base of a water tower will cause it to collapse, flooding the surrounding area with water. Alternatively, you can position yourself near the base of a water tower and allow him to shoot a fireball at it. This will destroy the tower, dousing him and temporarily incapacitating him. Incapacitate the Man on Fire using the water tower, then swiftly call in the chopper and exfiltrate the Hot Zone before he has a chance to recover. Alternatively, you can place a charge indoors near a tank, call the chopper, lure him toward the trap, run away, detonate the charge, and make your escape.

  • Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition – PC Review

In the realm of JRPGs, where the epic saga of Final Fantasy often takes center stage, Tales of has carved its own niche in my gaming heart. From the memorable action battles in Tales of Destiny and Phantasia to the intriguing evolution of combat across the series, Tales of Vesperia on the Xbox 360, over a decade ago, arguably marked the pinnacle of the franchise. Despite trudging through every installment, including the forgettable mobile misstep, Tales of Zestiria, the recent revisit with the Definitive Edition reminded me of a sobering truth – the series hasn't witnessed a gem like Vesperia in more than ten years. While some recent entries almost pushed me to abandon ship, Vesperia, with its extra layer of freshness in the Definitive Edition, reignited my passion for the Tales of universe. Set in a world reliant on ancient technology called Blastia, Tales of Vesperia follows the journey of Yuri Lowell, an ex-knight chasing a thief who pilfered his town's Aqua Blastia. What begins as a simple quest soon entwines him in a grand mission to save the world. While the JRPG narrative may seem standard, Vesperia's strength lies in its ability to transform the tried-and-true formula into an engaging and enjoyable experience. The addition of diverse characters, each with their motives and stories, enriches the narrative, creating a sense of camaraderie that elevates the game beyond mere heroics. The standout protagonist, Yuri, breaks the mold of typical JRPG leads, presenting a believable character with shades of moral ambiguity, refreshing the genre. Beyond the narrative, Tales of Vesperia adheres to traditional JRPG elements, offering a vast world map, towns, dungeons, and the eventual acquisition of a boat and airship. While the formula remains unchanged, the game compensates with stellar world design and art direction, making it one of the series' visual triumphs. The vibrant style and unique locales stand out, a departure from the blandness that crept in with subsequent titles. The inclusion of free DLC, such as the Winged Boots and costumes from the PS3 version, adds a pleasant touch for returning players, enhancing the exploration experience. The combat system, a cornerstone of Tales games, simplifies in Vesperia compared to its modern counterparts. While maintaining the basic structure, it introduces Fatal Strikes and the Over Limit system, providing depth without overwhelming players with excessive subsystems. This back-to-basics approach proves refreshing, allowing players to focus on core combat mechanics without drowning in complexity. Outside of battles, character customization involves learning skills from weapons, akin to Final Fantasy IX, offering a simple yet effective way to create a personalized character build. The Definitive Edition not only enhances the game's visual appeal but also introduces a wealth of new content, including additional party members, storylines, side-missions, locations, and bosses. The game's last-gen origins are evident in texture quality and animations, but the enduring art style masks these shortcomings. Returning players are in for a treat, with the added content making the return journey truly worthwhile. In revisiting Tales of Vesperia, it has solidified its status as one of the standout JRPGs of the last generation. Any minor quibbles pale in comparison to the game's numerous strengths. The Definitive Edition serves as a delightful treat for both veterans and newcomers, showcasing Tales of Vesperia's enduring appeal and setting a high standard for the franchise's future. Final Score:
