Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Walkthrough – Mission 41: Proxy War Without End

This mission closely resembles the earlier Mission 8, "Occupation Forces." You’ll encounter several vehicles, including one helicopter, that you need to handle. For this reason, it’s essential to bring along some form of launcher, as well as other items to either destroy the vehicles or Fulton them out. As long as you have a well-upgraded launcher, this mission shouldn’t be too difficult. Keep in mind that depending on your launcher’s upgrade status, it may take 2-3 shots to bring down the helicopter. The helicopter won’t spawn immediately, so be patient and wait for it to appear in the skies before taking your shot.

Ideally, you should leave the helicopter for last, as shooting it down will create quite a commotion. This will alert all the nearby soldiers and vehicles, causing them to begin searching for you. By taking care of the other threats first, you can minimize the chaos and make it easier to deal with the helicopter when you're ready. This strategic approach will help you maintain control of the situation throughout the mission.

Shortly after the mission begins, the tanks will spawn and start driving to various locations, where they will remain stationary for a period. This gives you a good opportunity to deal with them effectively. As always, we recommend using the Fulton to extract the tanks rather than destroying them. This method is quieter and allows you to add a shiny new tank to your collection. Just be sure to approach from behind and ensure that no soldiers spot you while you’re performing the extraction. This stealthy approach will help you maintain the element of surprise and complete your objectives with minimal hassle.

Similar to the tanks, it’s advisable to Fulton the vehicles out rather than destroy them. They will drive around for a while before eventually stopping, giving you the chance to extract them. If needed, you can also use Decoys or other obstructions placed on the road to force them to halt. However, if you find yourself needing to blow them up, keep in mind that it will typically take 2-3 shots, depending on your launcher and its upgrades. Be mindful of your ammunition, as it can deplete quickly during this mission. Opting for stealthy extractions will help conserve your resources and keep the situation under control.
