NVIDIA Set to Increase Graphics Card Prices Again

Nvidia is reportedly planning to raise the prices of its graphics cards for the third time this year, with increases expected to range from 20% to 30%. This information comes from a recent report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News, which attributes the price hike to the rising costs of DRAM. Unlike previous increases that primarily impacted high-end models such as the GeForce RTX 5090, this adjustment is set to affect all graphics cards in Nvidia's lineup.

According to the report, Nvidia has already informed graphics card manufacturers about the upcoming price changes. The planned increases will affect both GDDR7 and the older generation GDDR6 video memory. Over the past 18 months, GPU prices have surged significantly, with some models seeing increases of hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

For instance, the RTX 5090, which originally launched at $1,999, is now priced between $3,999 and $4,500. Similarly, the RTX 5060 Ti has seen its price rise from $379 to $569.

As of now, Nvidia has not made an official announcement regarding these price hikes. The ongoing increase in DRAM prices is largely driven by extensive investments in artificial intelligence and global data centers, leading to a situation where demand for components exceeds supply, ultimately passing higher costs onto consumers.

Nvidia has positioned itself as a leading supporter of AI advancements. Recently, CEO Jensen Huang expressed his views on the skepticism surrounding AI, dismissing it as “doom talk” and labeling the anti-AI narrative as “hurtful” to the industry.
